Opinion in Immunology, and
Current Opinion in Neurobiology.
Access to full articles costs $1 each.
- Entrez
WWW Entrez allows you to retrieve citations and records in the area of
molecular biology from the databases of the
National Center for Biotechnology Information.
These databases include MEDLINE (the
National Library of Medicine database
of biomedical articles), protein sequence databases from around the
world, and nucleotides from GenBank.
- German Human Genome Project
This server incorporates the Reference Library DataBase for Molecular
Genetics, previously maintained by the Genome Analysis Lab at the Imperial
Cancer Research Fund in London. It provides access to several biological
databases. Membership is required for most of the site (by filling out a
form online) and parts are searchable for non-members.
- The WWW Virtual Library: Biosciences
Maintained by Harvard. It is an exhaustive, searchable list of all
kinds of life sciences resources on the Web. It is broken down by
discipline and a Spanish language mirror site is available.
- The WWW Virtual Library: Biotechnology
Similar to the Biosciences Virtual Library, though a great deal shorter.
Categories include pharmaceutical development, genetic engineering and
medical device development.
Journals
- AgBioForum
This is a quarterly online magazine devoted to the economics and management of agricultural biotechnology, edited at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
- Annals of Biomedical Engineering
This journal of the Biomedical Engineering Society contains the full text
of articles published every other month. Information about the society,
subscriptions, and submissions is also available.
- ASBMB's Journal of Biological Chemistry
The electronic format of The American Society for Biochemistry
and Molecular Biology's Journal of Biological Chemistry is the same
as the printed version. The online version, however, is searchable and makes
it a much more convenient source for information. The journal is published
online by the Highwire Press of Stanford University.
- Bioline Journals
This publisher has made all of the titles and abstracts of its journals
available for searching free of charge. Full text and associated
materials may be requested online. The journals that are offered by
Bioline include:
BioSafety,
Biocontrol Science and Technology,
Biotechnology Letters,
Biotechnology Techniques,
The Genetic Engineer & Biotechnologist, and
The World Journal of Microbiology & Biotechnology.
- BioChemNet
Biology and Chemistry resources for educators, organized by subject. It
includes chapters from textbooks, links to informational sites, and ideas
for lessons.
- BioOptics Online
BioOptics Online bills itself as a link between clinicians, physicists and engineers working on biomedical optics problems. It's a web-only 'zine aimed at doctors in search of new techniques and physicists in search of new problems.
- Biotechnology Today
This electronic publication features biotechnology news, updated daily.
It also has a section containing web resources and background information
about biotechnology.
- Cell Press
This publisher has job listings and is the home of
Cell,
Immunity, and
Neuron, all of which
contain abstracts from articles and papers in their print versions.
- Chemistry & Industry
This international science and business magazine's site includes news,
features, a readers' forum, job search info, and archived issues.

Learning and Memory.
- COMPLEXITY INTERNATIONAL
An electronic journal of complex systems research, COMPLEXITY
INTERNATIONAL is a journal for scientific papers dealing with
any area of complex systems research. The theme of the journal is the
field of complex systems, the generation of complex behaviour from the
interaction of multiple parallel processes. Relevant topics include (but
are not restricted to): artificial life, cellular automata, chaos
theory, control theory, evolutionary programming, fractals, genetic
algorithms, information systems, neural networks, non-linear dynamics,
and parallel computation. Papers dealing with applications of these
topics are also encouraged.
- Conservation Ecology
Conservation Ecology is an on-line peer-reviewed journal in
conservational biology. The journal is published by the Ecological
Society of America.
